Eat A Bowl Of Rigatoni Pasta On May 24, 2021 TikTok Trend

Have you heard the good word? Everyone on TikTok is planning to eat a bowl of rigatoni pasta on May 24, 2021. Let us explain the origin...
Around January 15, 2020, the TikTok account @jimmyrules0 uploaded a video of spiders on a brick wall. On top of that seemingly random video was an even more random text overlay.
"Eat a bowl of rigatoni pasta on may 24 2021," the text read, with the hashtag #eatabowlofrigatonipastaonmay242021 in the caption. The song "Funky Town" by Lipps Inc. plays in the background.

Though that TikTok didn't seem to make much sense, people in the comments heard @jimmyrules0' call to action and agreed. Perhaps because of the threatening spiders?
We haven't been able to confirm if @jimmyrules0's TikTok is the original video of this meme, so let us know by emailing matt@tiktokmerch.com if you find an older video. However, by the next day, the rigatoni pasta campaign had spread widely on the app.
@dylanrhys2713 made a TikTok slowly zooming in on a Barilla box of rigatoni pasta. @wrhiv72 spread the word by printing the rigatoni demand on a label.

If this TikTok meme reminds you of last year's Area 51 memes, in which millions of people promised on a Facebook event to go to Area 51 in Nevada to "see them aliens," you're not alone. Plenty of people in the TikTok comments are in somewhat disbelief that another one of these events has taken off.
This meme, however, seems a lot safer and less illegal than storming Area 51. So we'll see you on May 24, 2021, with a box of rigatoni in hand, ready to eat a bowl of it.
