Wondering why everyone is saying "sorry to this man" on Twitter and TikTok? TikTokMerch – home of the greatest TikTok stickers – has the origin story to the trend.
At the beginning of September 2019, Vanity Fair posted an episode of their "Lie Detector" series with Hustlers star Keke Palmer. And since Keke was a star of the Nickelodeon show True Jackson, VP, the interviewer had one important question for her: Was True Jackson a better vice president than Dick Cheney?
Of course, Dick was the vice president from 2001 to 2009 during the George W. Bush administration, while Keke was in her adolescence. As it turns out, Keke had no idea who Dick was, despite being show a picture. Her answer resulted in some of the most iconic lines every spoken, tbh:
Who the hell is...? Ooh, y'all are really testing me on some stuff that I... I hate to say it. I hope I don't sound ridiculous. I don't know who this man is. He could be walking down the street, I wouldn't... I wouldn't know a thing. Sorry to this man.
A clip of the answer posted by MTV video producer Matt Gehring on Twitter went viral, as fans zeroed in one that one special line: "Sorry to this man."
